About metadata
Metadata is information hidden in the file: GPS coordinates, camera make and model, serial number, date and time, editing software, author name. It travels with the photo when you email it, post it on a classifieds site or share it on a forum.
Features
- Inventory: shows the GPS position, camera, lens, date, software, author and the EXIF, XMP and IPTC blocks found
- Lossless removal: the image is not re-encoded, quality stays exactly the same
- Orientation kept: the photo stays upright after cleaning
- Colours kept: the ICC colour profile is preserved
- Batch: clean several photos, download them as a ZIP file
- Formats: JPG, PNG and WebP
How to use
- Step 1: drop your photos or click “Choose photos”
- Step 2: check the metadata found (the GPS position is shown in red)
- Step 3: click “Remove metadata and download”
Use cases
- Classifieds: sell an item without revealing your home address
- Social networks and forums: many sites do not strip metadata
- Email and messaging: the photo arrives with all its information
- Publishing on a website: avoid exposing your camera’s serial number
Tips
- Check the “GPS position” line first: it is the most sensitive information
- The cleaned file keeps the same name: save it in another folder to avoid mix-ups
- iPhone HEIC photos must be converted to JPG first
Privacy
Unlike most online services, nothing is uploaded to a server: your images are read and processed by your browser, on your device, and the result is downloaded directly. We never have access to them. You can even go offline once the page has loaded.
