About the calculator
The fuel cost of a trip is simple to work out: distance × consumption per 100 km ÷ 100 × price per litre. To find your real consumption, fill up, note the kilometres driven, then the amount needed at the next fill-up.
Features
- Trip cost: fuel, tolls and parking, one way or return
- Cost sharing: amount per person for car sharing
- Real consumption: L/100 km and km per litre from a fill-up
- Electric: kWh/100 km and price per kWh
- Cost per kilometre and per 100 km
How to use
- Trip cost: enter the distance, consumption and fuel price
- My consumption: enter the kilometres since the last fill-up and the amount refilled
- Tick “Return trip” to double the distance
Typical consumption
- Small petrol car: 5 to 6.5 L/100 km
- Compact diesel: 4.5 to 6 L/100 km
- Petrol SUV: 7 to 9 L/100 km
- Electric car: 14 to 20 kWh/100 km
Tips
- The dashboard figure is often 5 to 10% optimistic
- On the motorway at 130 km/h, expect 15 to 20% more than at 110 km/h
- Prices are in euros; the calculation works the same with any currency
