Which format should I choose?
- JPG: photos, works everywhere; no transparency
- PNG: screenshots, logos, text; lossless, but heavier for photos
- WebP: web images, much smaller than JPG at the same quality
- AVIF: even smaller, but not yet read by every app
Tips
- 85 to 90% quality is a good balance for photos
- An animated GIF is converted to a still image (first frame)
- Metadata (EXIF, GPS position) is not copied into the converted image
- To mainly reduce file size, use the image compressor
Privacy
Unlike most online services, nothing is uploaded to a server: your images are read and processed by your browser, on your device, and the result is downloaded directly. We never have access to them. You can even go offline once the page has loaded.
