About the reaction time test
This test measures your simple visual reaction time: the delay between a change on screen and your click. The box waits a random time (between 1.5 and 4.5 seconds) so you cannot anticipate, then turns green: the timer runs until you click, tap or press the space bar.
How to use
- Click the box to start a series of 5 attempts
- Wait for green: clicking too soon cancels the attempt
- Click as fast as you can when the box turns green
- Read your average, best time and level at the end of the series
How to read your result
- Under 200 ms: excellent reflexes
- 200 to 270 ms: typical of a rested adult
- Over 300 ms: often tiredness, distraction or equipment latency
Why your result can vary
- Screen and mouse: a 60 Hz screen, a wireless mouse or a TV mode can add 10 to 50 ms
- Browser: a busy computer or many open tabs slow the display
- You: fatigue, caffeine, time of day and concentration play a big role
Tips
- Use a wired mouse and a gaming or high-refresh screen if you have one
- Keep your finger ready on the button, eyes on the box
- Do several series: the average of your best series is the most reliable figure
Privacy
- The test runs entirely in your browser
- Your record is stored only on your device (local storage)
- Nothing is sent to a server
