Calculate a Codice Fiscale

Any Italian municipality works: enter its 4-character cadastral code (Belfiore code), shown on official documents and on the ISTAT website.

โ„น๏ธ This tool checks the format and check character of a code. It does not confirm that the code has been issued to a real person: only the Agenzia delle Entrate can do that.

About the Codice Fiscale Validator

The Codice Fiscale is the Italian tax identification code assigned to every resident and to anyone dealing with the Italian administration. This free tool validates a Codice Fiscale, decodes the information it contains and calculates it from personal data.

It is useful for developers building forms, for e-commerce and registrar staff checking customer data, and for anyone who needs their code for an Italian contract, bank account or domain name (.it).

Key Features

  • Check character validation: verifies the 16th character with the official odd/even table algorithm.
  • Full decoding: date of birth, sex and place of birth (municipality or foreign country).
  • Omocodia support: recognises codes in which digits were replaced by letters to avoid duplicates.
  • Calculator: generates the code from surname, first name, sex, date and place of birth.

How to Use the Tool

  • Step 1: Paste a Codice Fiscale into the validation field.
  • Step 2: Click Validate to see whether it is valid and what it contains.
  • Step 3: To calculate a code, fill in the personal data and the cadastral code of the place of birth.
  • Step 4: Copy the result with the ๐Ÿ“‹ button.

Common Use Cases

  • Checking customer data before invoicing an Italian company or individual
  • Validating the registrant data required to register a .it domain name
  • Testing form validation rules during web development
  • Finding out your own code before an administrative procedure

Tips & Best Practices

  • The year only has two digits: a person born in 1910 and one born in 2010 share the same year code, so the tool shows both possibilities.
  • A calculated code may differ from the official one in case of omocodia: always rely on the tessera sanitaria or the Agenzia delle Entrate.
  • Accents and apostrophes in names are ignored (D'Angelo โ†’ DNG).
